THE Lancashire Ladies’ County Championship returns to Clitheroe on May 25-27 for the first time since 1990.

DEFENDING CHAMPION: Catherine  Roberts

The winner then was Chorley’s Lora Fairclough who later enjoyed a successful career on the Ladies’ European Tour, winning four times. Competitors from clubs all over the county have entered. Catherine Roberts (Pleasington) will defend the title she has held for the last two years. The other past champions in the field are Beth Garton and Corisande Lee.

A strong challenge will come from the 2013 County team players, Clitheroe members Sophie Lamb and Emma Clegg as well as junior England internationals Eloise Healey, Hollie Muse and Louisa Brunt.

The championship format is two strokeplay rounds on the first day. The top sixteen players go into the championship matchplay with the next sixteen contesting the Plate over the following two days with both finals on Tuesday afternoon.
