Aces are high at Darwen

A brand new car, a set of clubs, a holiday in Portugal, a weekend break. It reads like a posh version of the Generation Game.

And with the TV show set to make a comeback, Darwen Golf Club is staging its own version during its annual pro-am on June 29.

It may be a bit of a long shot, but the first amateur to score an ace at any of the four selected par three holes will be the lucky winner of one of the prizes  – or maybe two if they can emulate the feat of Lytham Green Drive member Pat Smart last weekend!

Organiser Graham Maudsley explained: “We even have a sponsor for the event so it’s not surprising we’ve had a lot of interest. If anyone wants to enter a team they will have to hurry because we are only four short of our maximum number of 40.”

The pro-am has been running for 36 years and is one of the most eagerly awaited fixtures in the PGA in Lancs fixture list.
