He can add another chapter to his success story after winning the club championship at Chorley for a record seventh time.

But it was more like a stroll in the park for the 53-year-old two handicapper as he overpowered four ranked John MacIntosh 6&5.

“I was six up after eight holes so it was always going to be a struggle for him after that,” said Bromilow, who beat the previous record he shared with fellow past club captain Norman Fletcher.

“It’s 14 years since I last won it,” revealed the three-time Bolton champion. “But I played steadily throughout.”

Beaten semi-finalist were Steven Eckersley and Graham Bolton, the latter consoled by claiming the Hansen Trophy in the 36-hole qualifier with rounds of 69 and 64.

Meanwhile, junior captain Jackson Burgess won the junior championship for the second year in a row.
