Same again, lads! Team wins title twice

HISTORY repeated itself at Chorley FC’s annual Golf Day at Shaw Hill when Aggregate Industries scooped the top prize for a second year running.

Richard Naylor and colleagues Mark Elstone, Darren Robinson and Bill Hayhurst rattled up 88 stableford points to win by five from DCM Projects.

And it was late substitute Hayhurst, a nine handicapper, who did most of the damage with a pair of birdies and a stack of pars as his score went down on the card 15 times.

The team was also first back into the clubhouse but their target never looked likely to be beaten.

They received top-of-the-range Raa putters while DCM received must-have golfing fashion accessories Druh belts.

Magpies’ midfield dynamo Tom Baker, who also played in the competition with his own team and finished third on 82 points, presented the prizes with organiser David Birtill.

Fourth were Travis Perkins with 81 points.

The Chorley Group offered prizes, including a Juke car, for anyone who aced one of the four par three holes but no-one could produce the million-to-one shot!
