Fleetwood and Donaldson take a tumble

REGIONAL hopes Tommy Fleetwood and Jamie Donaldson slipped several rungs down leaderboard in  the WGC-HSBC Champions where Graeme McDowell extended his advantage after a flawless five under par 67 in the second round at Sheshan International Golf Club.

The Northern Irishman notched five birdies to reach ten under par overall, three ahead of Englishman Ian Poulter (67), who won the tournament in 2012, and four in front of American Bubba Watson (67) and Japan’s Hiroshi Iwata (65).

Poulter and Watson both enjoyed strong finishes, the latter birdieing the last five holes and the former picking up shots on four of the closing five.

Formby Hall’s Fleetwood, joint second overnight, posted 75 to lie 10 shots off the pace as Macclesfield’s Donaldson returned a  77.
