And there was more to celebrate as RGAC vice-president Mike Kempaly and his wife Heather collected the prestigious Emily Dibben Volunteer of the Year award chosen from the various supporters’ groups, from parents Ian and Tricia Dibben.

RGAC chairman Keith McIntosh stressed “In difficult economic times, fundraising doesn’t get easier, but at the end of another great year, we are delighted to be able to support the Foundation with this money. Throughout 2014 we have raised money through events at Leyland, Morecambe, Chorley, Stoneyhurst, Shaw HIll and Lytham Green Drive Golf Clubs. As ever, we are grateful to everyone who has contributed and helped in any way.”

Sue Thompson, chief executive of the Rosemere Cancer Foundation, said: “Over the years, through a regular programme of events, Rosemere Golfers have raised many thousands of much-needed pounds for the charity. They are a fun group who strive tirelessly to help the cause and we are sincerely grateful for all they contribute.”

Rosemere Golfers Against Cancer have a whole series of events planned for 2015, including exciting new venues, with an ambitious aim to top this year’s cheque. Details can be found at www.rosemeregolfersagainstcancer.org.uk
