Cheetham’s tour lands sponsorship deal

JONATHAN Cheetham’s 1836 Tour continues to grow from strength to strength and this season will be marked by a sponsorship deal with Callaway.

The winner of Order of Merit will qualify a full playing contract for 2016 and the second to fifth professionals will receive 12 dozen balls and three dozen gloves.

Former Lancashire County player Martin Wild, Callaway’s sales director, said: “I have followed the progress of the 1836 Tour since it was launched by Jonathan. It is a great breeding ground for aspiring young talent and there can be no more proof of its success than seeing Tom Murray gain his full European Tour card for this season.

“Callaway has some of the world`s greatest players on its tour staff but still believes in supporting the game’s grass-roots.

“In addition to backing the 1836Tour we have more than 200 PGA club professionals and assistants in our Ambassador Club Pro Programme, highlighting Callaway`s commitment to golf at every level.”

Cheetham said: “We ran 51 events last year and as many are on the schedule this time with prestigious venues such as Moortown, West Lancs, S&A, Lindrick, St Annes Old Links, Fulford and Conwy.
