He conjured the stroke of genius at Warwickshire course Kenilworth’s 130-yard seventh and he went on to win the club’s Junior Masters with a score four under his 16 handicap.

The 13-year-old Bacup & Rawtenstall Grammar School pupil said: “My sister has spent the last year reminding me about her ace so at least now we’re even!”

“You can go a whole lifetime without getting one so it’s something special that we have both done it as juniors.

“I deliberately hit the ball out to the left because I knew the slope on the green would bring it back. It was a decent shot but I had no idea it was in the hole until I reached the green.”

Meanwhile, Rossendale juniors had a profitable day at Kenilworth with Harry Lord finishing runner-up.

Alex added: “The Rossendale junior section is really good. We have more than 50 members and lots of support from the junior organisers.”

Alex and his sister also play at Royal Lytham & St Annes both have qualified for next month’s US Kids European Golf Championship at Gullane.
