The much anticipated annual fixture, the sixth Stonyhurst ‘Rosemere’ Day was declared a great success  with more than  £720 raised for the charity.

Organiser and vice-chairman of RGAC, Mike Kemplay said: “Traditionally Stonyhurst is the first of our series of golf days. It’s on a smaller scale than the others but it just gets better and better.

“We had 10 teams and local knowledge helped the winners Team Stonyhurst ‘The Andy Cappers’ who triumphed with 80 stableford points. The Bayley Arms at Hurst Green did us proud with the catering and reception once more and I’m very grateful to John Austin of Stonyhurst Park Golf Club for his organisation.”

Dan Hill, Rosemere Cancer Foundation Fundraising co-ordinator for East Lancashire, added: “This was a great achievement, another fantastic day of golf,. Year on year this event grows and wouldn’t be possible without the hard work and determination of the organisers and the group’s supporters.”Rosemere Golfers Against Cancer, an enthusiastic group of fundraisers, have been staging a programme of special golf days for over 13 years, each raising much-needed funds for the Preston-based Rosemere Cancer Foundation. The next event will be the 13th Annual Celebrity-Amateur Golf Day Leyland Golf Club on May 11.
