HOLLIE MUSE: Defending Lancashire title

The England Girls’ international captured the Scottish U16 Girls’ Open in April when she also won the Leveret at Formby Ladies.

And she was the youngest player to claim the Lancashire title at Clitheroe and last year.

The newly crowned Lancashire Seniors’ champion, Chris Appleby (St Annes Old Links), will partner her in the qualifying rounds.

Hollie can expect strong opposition from her West Lancs clubmate Eloise Healey and Royal Birkdale’s Louisa Brunt who are her fellow England players.

There are four former county champions in the field: Catherine Roberts (Pleasington) winner in 2012 and 2013, Bethany Garton (Royal Lytham & St Annes) 2010, Gill Nutter (Formby Ladies’) 1994, 1995 and  1997 and Janet Melville (Royal Birkdale) 1983, 1986, 1987 and 1992.

The championship format is two strokeplay qualifying rounds on May 16. The top 16 players go on to the Championship knock-out matchplay. The next 16 play the same format in The Plate. The Finals of both events are played on the Thursday afternoon.

A special championship card of the course will be used with a Standard Scratch Score of 76.

Meanwhile, Tour player Florentyna Parker was last winner to win the title when the event was last hosted by S@&A in 2006.
