Law 10 shots ahead in title defence

BRAMHALL’S Bronte Law stretched her lead to a massive 10 shots in the English women’s amateur at Hunstanton after a second round 69.

The world number three and defending champion is 12-under par at the half way stage and today is red hot favourite in the 36-hole final.

But she admitted: “There’s a lot of expectation, not only from myself, but also from other people. I just have to forget about it and go out and play the course for its conditions.”

“I hit it close on a lot of holes yesterday and if they had dropped it would have been something like the previous day,” said the 20-year-old. As it was she had six birdies in her round, alongside three bogeys.

The rest of the field is inevitably chasing – and enjoying it, as far as girl international Lizzie Prior (Burhill) is concerned.

She is in a group of four players who share second place, alongside international Alice Hewson (Berkhamsted), former women’s mid-amateur champion Sammie Giles (St Mellion) and girl international Sammy Fuller (Roehampton).
