Cool Cull is champ after last hole eagle

ROB Cull won the Cheshire Boys’ Championship at Delamere Forest in style – with an eagle on the final hole!

The Bromborough scratch player swept into the lead with a two-under-par 70, two ahead of his nearest challenger Jeremiah Hayes, from Prestbury, with Sandiway’s Rhys Nevin-Wharton in hot pursuit after a 73.

It was nip and tuck in the second round  as Cull’s playing companion Lewis George, the 2013 champion from the host club, and Nevin-Wharton, the county boys’ captain, keeping on his tail along with Ringway’s Josh Curtis who birdied the ninth and short 12th to finish level.

Cull chipped in for a birdie two on the 12th to keep a shot ahead  then showed nerves of steel as he holed the 45-foot putt for his eagle on the last. George claimed second place, beating Curtis on countback.
