Golfers boost cancer charity

AN enthusiastic group of golfers crowned another successful year when they donated £12,500 to the Preston-based Rosemere Cancer Foundation.

Keith McIntosh, the charity’s founder and chairman, revealed at its annual supporters’ Christmas party at Preston North End: “We have raised money through events at Blackburn, Leyland, Morecambe, Chorley, Stoneyhurst, Shaw Hill and Lytham Green Drive golf clubs.”

Among its patrons are former European Tour winners Paul Eales and Lora Fairclough, leading professional caddy Phil ‘Wobbly’ Morbey and former BBC presenter and ex-frontman of the Houghton Weavers, Norman Prince.

Sue Thompson, chief executive of the Rosemere Cancer Foundation, said: “Over the years, through a regular programme of events, Rosemere Golfers have raised many thousands of much-needed pounds. They are a fun group who strive tirelessly to help the cause and we are sincerely grateful for all they contribute.”

A series of events are planned for next year,
