ITALIAN amateur star Michele Ortolani has turned professional and will be represented by Chubby Chandler’s Knutsford-based International Sports Management.

Michele Ortolani2Michele, 19, had an impressive 2015 and won the Austrian Amateur as well as finishing runner up in Italy’s International and Stroke Play Championships.

He will make his professional debut at the Alps Tour’s Ein Bay Open at Sokhna, Egypt, starting on February 9, and is looking forward to testing his game at a new level.

Michele said: “I am so happy to turn professional. I feel I’m ready. Playing professional golf is my ambition and I’m delighted to have the ISM team to help me achieve my goals.”

The Italian youngster will be looking to follow in the footsteps of ISM’s other starlets including Danny Willett, Matt Fitzpatrick and Ben An.

International Sports Management is one of the world’s leading sports agencies and has guided the careers of some of golf’s top players, including Europe’s Ryder Cup captain Darren Clarke, 2010 Open champion Louis Oosthuizen and former world number one Lee Westwood.

Chandler said: “It’s an exciting time for Italian golf with Italy having been awarded the 2022 Ryder Cup.  I am delighted that Michele is joining us. He is a player we have watched since last summer, and although he is still young, I’m convinced that he has huge potential.”
