Record entry on cards for Wirral Classic

THE Wirral Golf Classic marks its seventh year with the prospect of another record entry.
More than half the places have already been taken by players from the UK and entries have also been received from France, Holland and the USA.

Royal LiverpoolThe 72-hole fourball stableford, on September 19-23, will be staged over Caldy, Heswall, Wallasey and Royal Liverpool, pictured left.

It  is open to men and women and £4,000 worth of prizes are up for grabs .

Caldy, venue of this year’s British Women’s Senior Championship, boasts stunning views from its cliffs across the River Dee to Wales.

Heswall was the venue for the R&A’s Junior Championships in 2006 and  Wallasey, home of Stableford, and a former Open Championship qualifying course. Royal Liverpool hosted the first Amateur Championship and Walker Cup in addition to 12 Open Championships.

There will be daily prizes and up to two friends can play in each fourball, with couples having the option of mixed foursomes for one or more games.

And two social events are included in the price – a drinks reception at the Holiday Inn Express and the prize-giving in the magnificent Royal Liverpool clubhouse.

Entry fee is a bargain £269 for the competition  supported by Holiday Inn Express, National Club Golfer, Titleist, Budget Gas and Liverpool Gin.
