North West lasses in Nations Cup showdown

INTERNATIONALS Gemma Clews, Sammy Fuller and Sophie Lamb will represent England in the Nations Cup at the Welsh Women’s Open Strokeplay Championship at Conwy Golf Club for three days starting on Friday.

Clitheroe’s Lamb, 18, was runner-up in the 2015 England Girls’ Order of Merit and represented England in the winning women’s Home Internationals team.

This year she has won the Sunningdale Foursomes, reached the quarter finals of the Spanish amateur and was 15th in the Irish strokeplay.

Clews, 21, from Delamere Forest, recently won the Comboy Trophy at her home club for the third year in a row. She is a GB&I and England international and helped England win the 2015 women’s Home Internationals.

And Sammy Fuller, 16, from Roehampton, helped England win both the girls’ and women’s Home Internationals. She tied for the 2015 Irish U18 stroke play and this year she scored a record seventh win in the Florida Junior International Championship.

And Clitheroe’s Sophie Lamb, 18, was runner-up in the 2015 England Girls’ Order of Merit and represented England in the winning women’s Home Internationals team.
