You can count on Matthew and Alex!

MATTHEW Webb and Alex Belt booked their place in the final of the Golfbreaks.com PGA Fourball Championship at Cheshire resort Carden Park after winning the PGA North qualifier at Woodsome Hall on countback.

Webb, from Bedlingtonshire and Snainton Golf Centre’s Belt, were in a three-way tie after posting eight-under-par 62 at the Huddersfield venue alongside Jonathan Stacey and Martyn Stubbings (Rockliffe Hall) and Scott Jackson and Ian Ridgway (Disley).
But the pair racked up seven birdies in a back nine of 28 to ensure top spot.

The leading three pairs will join nine other qualifiers for the £33,000 at Carden Park on August 17-19.
Meanwhile, Webb is enjoying a successful year after also reaching the final of the PGA Assistants’ Championship but he will not want a repeat of last season’s Fourball Championship final.
“I was playing with Adam Hodkinson, but we were disqualified after missing our (second round) tee time after we were stuck in traffic,” he explained.
“We were doing okay after the first round when we were five-under-par so to miss out was very disappointing.
“I want to go back to Carden Park to put that straight.”
Webb has been pleased with his game this year but admits it took him and Belt a while to get into their stride at Woodsome Hall.
“We just couldn’t get our putting right, although we started off with a birdie, it was the ninth hole before we really built up any momentum,” he said.
“After that, we were fine and made birdie after birdie so it worked out well.
