Myerscough Group.jpgMYERSCOUGH College golf students have played a major part in the latest Arnold Palmer Cup – the college version of the Ryder Cup, played between Europe and the USA.

The annual international collegiate competition was at Formby with students also acting as caddies.

Since its inception in 1997, the tournament, which adopts a Ryder Cup style format, has become the biggest such event in the world. It is named after the legendary Palmer and brings together the top college players from both sides of the Atlantic. Alongside the Ryder Cup and Walker Cup, it’s one of only three golf events where Europe play against the USA.

In addition to the group playing a major part in the event with Myerscough student Kieran Oates being chosen as junior caddy for the Arnold Palmer Cup representative Matthias Schwab, selected to play in the Arnold Palmer Invitational presented by MasterCard at Bayhill, Florida, next March.

Meanwhile, Myerscough has secured a 12-month partnership with Callaway Golf Europe which will support next season’s Collegiate Tour.
