James has plenty to crow about


JAMES Newton picked up his first points on the season in the Galvin Green Northern Order of Merit when he won the Wilmslow Crow.

But he only got the verdict on countback from Haydock Park’s Ian Kenwright.

The Prestbury player posted rounds of 69 and 68 for a seven–under-par aggregate which featured a total of 11 birdies as his rival reversed the scores.

Meanwhile, Northenden’s Sam Prince regained pole position in the rankings.
