New partnership extends Xact service to clubs

THE golf unions of England, Wales and Scotland have been partnered by the greenkeepers’ association BIGGA to extend the support offered to golf clubs on health and safety and employment law.

bigBIGGA – the British and International Golf Greenkeepers’ Association – will join England Golf, Scottish Golf and the Golf Union of Wales in providing free advice to members from the specialist golf service providers, the Xact Group.

A new feature of the Xact service is a range of e-learning health and safety courses for golf club staff, offering ten online courses on clubhouse topics and greenkeeping matters. Clubs will receive a substantial discount on the charges for this training.

The courses are designed to help golf clubs meet their legal obligations, provide a safer working environment and can be used as part of an induction process. Specially designed software allows the employee to complete the training in more than one session.

BIGGA chief executive Jim Croxton, the former PGA North secretary, said: “Health and safety is of critical importance to the greenkeeping industry as the combination of Mother Nature and heavy machinery makes caution paramount.

“We are therefore delighted to be able to join with the golf unions in providing a free specialist service to our members alongside the opportunity for substantially reduced cost access to online training and induction.”

Richard Flint, England Golf Participation & Club Support director, commented: “We are delighted to be working with BIGGA and look forward to reaching more course managers and greenkeeping staff.

“The advice available from Xact is invaluable and, by providing support and resources such as this, our partnership is helping clubs to develop their business and become more successful.”

Jack Hargrave, marketing director of Xact, added: “We are delighted to continue our close association with the golf unions of England, Wales and Scotland and are pleased to extend our support to BIGGA and all its members throughout Great Britain.

“Our range of golf club specific support services now includes a full suite of health and safety e-learning courses tailored to golf clubhouse employees and greenkeeping employees.  We look forward to continuing to help clubs maintain a safe environment for employees, members and visitors.”
