Rhys battles back to take Cheshire crown


CHESHIRE Junior Captain Rhys Nevin-Wharton won county boys’ championship courtesy of a blistering second round 67 at Delamere Forest.

The Sandiway player and England ace, soon to take up a four-year golf scholarship in the United States, opened up with an untitdy 77 to trail Eaton’s James Ashfield by six strokes.

But it was a different story in the afternoon, sealing victory with a birdie on the final hole.Ashfield claimed second spot while the best nett award went to  Prestbury’s Tom Kirton.
