Archer at the double

PHIL Archer continued his impressive form in the Manchester Alliance with a double victory at Haydock Park.

The Birchwood-attached former European Tour (pictured with host club president Jack Yates) ace headed the individual pro section with 40 points, one better than Colin Maroney (Bolton Old Links) and Olly Smith (Ashton-on-Mersey).SONY DSC

Then, with his Dunham Forest partner Mark Harding, Archer  clinched the pro am with 45 points, one clear of Chorlton’s Adam Hodkinson and Danny Gathercole 44 and Colin Maroney and Andy Fletcher (Bolton Old Links) 43.

The top assistant pro prize was shared on 38 points by Adam Hodkinson, Andy Palmer (Chorley & Oak Royal) and Rob Batchelor (Stand), all 38.

Am-am winners were Stand pair Norman Haslam and James Parton with 43 points from Andy Charnock and Craig Cuthbert (Fairfield) 42 and Stamford stars Danny Fox and Steve Finan 40.
