Archer hits the target again – and at the double!

PHIL Archer cashed in on a double pay-day in the Manchester Alliance, following up his strokeplay championship win at Denton two days earlier with another impressive performance at Bramall Park.

And he’s also bang on course to clinch the season-ending professional order of merit.

The Birchwood-attached former European Tour winner racked up 40 points to prevail by one from Chorley assistant Andy Palmer and Disley’s Scott Jackson, who posted 38.

And Archer also joined forces with Mere’s Anton Johnson to rack up 45 points to top the pro-am.  Two off the pace were Palmer and Bolton’s Keith Ashton.

Leigh’s Vinny Doyle extended his lead in the amateur merit race, partnering Swinton Park’s Darren Wood to 44 points to win on countback from Stand duo Keith Dingley and Dave Eckersley.
