Hastie claims second place in Logan Trophy

BOLTON’S Gareth Hastie finished a creditable second in the Logan Trophy at Staffordshire club Beau Desert.

The Royal Lytham & St Annes player was two shots adrift of Woburn’s Stephen

“I do harbour ambitions to possibly try to turn professional and this gives me the belief that I can play golf under reasonable pressure,” said Jenson who held off the challenge from Hastie (pictured) in the English men’s open mid-amateur championship with a 54-hole total of three over par.

Hastie, who was locked in a battle for second place, birdied the final hole to reduce the deficit to two and finish runner-up on his own on five-over, pipping Formby’s Geoff Harris by a stroke.
