Golf is child’s play at Royal Lytham

BUDDING golfers made the most of the chance provided by the Golf Foundation to visit the Ricoh Women’s British Open last week.

The youngsters, some from Chorley Golf Club and others learning the game at Euxton Park Golf Centre and the Duxbury Park club, watched some of the world’s best at Royal Lytham & St Annes.

They saw some of the great golf after being treated to a guided tour provided by the Ladies European Tour.

It included obtaining pictures and autographs from Charley Hull, Dame Laura Davies, Georgia Hall and many others including world No 1 Ariya Jutanugarn and next year’s Solheim Cup Captain Catriona Matthew.

After enjoying lunch in the 18th grandstand they headed to the Golf Zone and tested their skills in some fun games such as sticky dart board golf, the chipping shy and putting.

The experiences will doubtless inspire everyone on the trip and continue to develop as young golfers.

Meanwhile, there are some great opportunities to learn how to play golf in the area. A new junior academy has been launched at Euxton Park e for 6-14 year olds. You can find out more by calling 01257 261601
