TOP OF THE SHOTS: Stand’s am-am duo Norman Haslam and Gary Greenhalgh

IT was a full field for the Manchester and Distance Golf Alliance at Hazel Grove where there was much at stake for the long-running Leo Feeney and Chris Tobin Trophy.

The club has hosted the competition for many years and Stand’s am-am duo Norman Haslam and Gary Greenhalgh posted 44 points to win the trophy to take the back to their own club for the first time in its long history.

They finished ahead of Paul Eddlestone (Stamford) and Neil Pragnall (Ashton-under-Lyne) 42 and Paul Traynor and Richard Margrave (Stamford) 40.

Top score came from Jamie Howarth (Davenport) and Chris Alexander (Mellor and Townscliffe) in the pro-am with 46 points but as they are not from the same club they were not eligible to take the trophy.

They finished clear of Andy Palmer and Malcolm Bailey (Chorley) 44 and Scott Howarth (Davenport) and Peter Botterman (Stockport) 43.

The top individual pro prize was shared by Ben Chambers (Swinton Park) and Jamies Howarth with 40 points, one more than Palmer.
