Archer hits the target again!

THE Manchester Alliance signed off another season at Bramhall marked by annual President’s Day but unfortunately the man himself, John Dowd, had to miss the occasion,

Phil Archer (Poulton Park) retained the professional Order of Merit with 609 points, well clear of Graham Cox (Lymm) 417 and Jamie Howarth (Davenport) 398.

Andy Palmer (Chorley) won the assistant professional Order of Merit from Alistair Waddell (Chorlton) and the amateur title was claimed by Mark Riley (Leigh) from Steve Moores (Stamford) and Mark Pasquill (Leigh).

Top professional score of the day was Jamie Howarth’s 67, two ahead of  Graham Cox and Martin Longshaw (Haigh Hall) and Grant Hamerton (Pike Fold) signed for 70.

Leading amateur with a nett 66 was Archie Palmer, a former junior captain at Stamford and Bramhall and a leading Cheshire junior, finishing  ahead of Josh Lees (Ashton-on-Mersey) 67 and Martin Packingham (Wigan) 69. Archie Palmer also the President’s Cup.

Alliance captain Dave Green was top guest on  69 from Jim Cunliffe (Bolton Old Links) 70 and Denis Durnian (Chorley) 73.

Alliance Vice President Ian Brooks (Bolton Old Links) handed out the prizes and Steve Finan, of Stamford Golf Club, was named next captain.
